What’s bothering Manuela?

Manuela doesn’t like the fact that her face looks tired and somewhat lifeless. The skin under her eyes has become darker, and lines have developed on her forehead and around her eyes and mouth, giving her face a slightly sunken appearance.

Frown line and crow’s feet

Crow’s feet, or laughter lines, are lines caused by facial expressions; they develop at the outer edges of the eyes over the years and set in place as a result of repeated movements of the muscles in the face. The frown line between Manuela’s eyebrows also developed this way. Both can be smoothed by reducing the activity of the muscles in this part of the face with botulinum toxin. This treatment blocks the secretion of a messenger substance, inhibiting the transmission of impulses from the nerve cell to the muscle and thus allowing the muscle to relax.

Nasolabial folds and oral commissures

Nasolabial folds are the creases that develop from either side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. Oral commissures, more commonly known as marionette lines, are lines that run diagonally downwards from the outer corners of the lips to the chin. In contrast to expression-related lines, both develop primarily as a result of the increasing loss of tissue elasticity with age and are therefore both classified as deep wrinkles. They are usually treated with a hyaluronic acid filler.

Circles under the eyes

Dark circles have developed under Manuela’s eyes. The main cause of these circles is the loss of subcutaneous fatty tissue around the lower eyelids and the loss of bone around the eye sockets. A crease known as a “tear trough” has developed below the middle of the lower eyelid as a result of this loss of tissue and bone. The area is treated with a hyaluronic acid filler to replace the lost volume and smooth the tear trough.

Profhilo® for Manuela

Fine lines are visible in various parts of Manuela’s face and her skin has a dry and dull appearance. Treatment with Profhilo®, which involves injecting ultrapure hyaluronic acid into five defined points on each side of the face, stimulates the body’s natural production of hyaluronic acid and supports the formation of elastin and collagen. This treatment gives Manuela’s face a boost of freshness while the instant regenerative dual action produces an anti-aging effect. Her skin is smoother and firmer, and looks rosy once more.

The two photos show Manuela on the left before her first treatment with Profhilo® and on the right after two sessions 4-6 weeks apart.

The wrinkles on her cheeks and at the corners of her mouth have mostly disappeared and the overall appearance of her skin has visibly improved. Manuela's face now looks much more even, fresher and younger and the skin has become much firmer.
