What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is a biostimulator used in esthetic medicine to smooth out wrinkles and improve facial volume. It consists mainly of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite, a substance that also occurs naturally in the human body, especially in the bones and teeth.
How does Radiesse® work?
Radiesse® works in two ways:
1. Replenishing volume: Radiesse® fills deep wrinkles in the face by supporting the tissue and creating a smoother surface.
2. Stimulating collagen over a long period: As well as instantly replenishing volume, the biostimulator Radiesse® also works to stimulate the body's own production of collagen. Collagen is a protein that supports the skin's structural firmness and elasticity. By stimulating collagen production, Radiesse® helps to improve skin quality over the long term, as the newly formed collagen maintains volume over time. While the injected Radiesse® material is gradually depleted, the result achieved by collagen stimulation remains.
This combined effect means that the results of Radiesse® are both instantly visible and long-lasting. Skin appears smoother, fuller, and more youthful, while the natural contours of the face are enhanced.
Where is Radiesse® used?
Typical uses for Radiesse® include treating nasolabial folds (the lines between the nose and mouth) and marionette lines (the lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin), and improving the contours of the cheeks or the chin.
