A broad lower jaw often makes the facial contours look harsh and "square". The jawbone may be broader than usual for various reasons: one reason is constitutional broad bony structures, but the masseter muscle (one of the chewing muscles) may also be larger than average. If the masseter is too large, its size can be reduced with appropriate treatment.
